Tim Hetherington's 2007 World Press Photo of the Year

Photojournalists Tim Hetherington and Chris Hondros were killed today during a mortar attack in Libya.

I really don’t know what else to say. I hope you can find some time to take a look at their incredible work, however uncomfortable some of it may make you feel. These guys were two of the best.

UPDATE 4/22/2011:

Well I’m having a hard time getting over this tragedy. Tim was such an amazing photographer and his work an inspiration to so many of us outside of the photojournalism community. His images had a power and deliberate focus that went far beyond just being there and documenting.

Sebastian Junger has written a short article for Vanity Fair and the magazine has posted a slideshow of some of his work from Afghanistan here.

Heather Morton has posted “Remembering Tim Hetherington” on her blog with an interview from 2009

Modern Views

A new documentary film called “Modern Views: A Conversation on Northwest Modern Architecture” is set to be released this Spring.

Funded by the University of Washington Department of Architecture and produced by studio/216, the film explores the “Northwest School” of modern architecture during it’s heyday in the 1950′s through the 1970′s and will feature interviews of influential Northwest architects Ralph Anderson, Fred Bassetti, Arne Bystrom, Wendell Lovett and Gene Zema.

I’m looking forward to it! More info HERE.

Pierre Koenig in Elle

I noticed that Pierre Koenig’s “Case Study House #22″ is the setting for a fashion spread in this month’s Elle Magazine. One of Julius Shulman’s photographs of the project became the iconic image of Los Angeles mid-century modern architecture.

Oh yeah….Olivia Wilde is featured in the spread as well ;-)
