On the Cover: Luxe Interiors + Design Winter 2015

A light and airy condo remodel project I photographed for Christian Grevstad is the cover feature of the new Winter 2015 Pacific Northwest edition of Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine.

On the Cover: Interiors Magazine Feb/Mar 2015

leitz-interiors-cover1 The cover feature of the new February/March 2015 issue of Interiors Magazine is the awesome Hilltop Residence I had the pleasure of photographing for Terry Hunziker and Cheshire Architects. So excited to finally see it in print - and on the cover of course!

Luxe Interiors + Design Winter 2014 Issue

luxe-winter2014-1 The Winter 2014 Pacific Northwest edition of Luxe Interiors + Design magazine is out and features my photographs of a wonderfully light and minimal modern Seattle home by CCS Architecture. The editorial team chose some really interesting tight crops of some of the original images and I think the whole spread turned out great.

Blufftop House by Graham Architecture

graham-newport-ext1 A few photos from a project I photographed earlier this Summer in Newport Beach, CA for Graham Architects and Michael Fullen Design Group. The house is perched on a hill and boasts an unobstructed view West over Balboa Island and out to the Pacific Ocean.

The back exterior was a tricky shot to get as there was no where to put the camera close to the house. So as twilight approached we hustled down to the Balboa Island bridge armed with a 400mm telephoto lens. The multi-second exposure had to be timed just so, as any passing cars caused vibrations on the bridge that blurred the image.

Hilltop House - Mountain Landing, New Zealand

Now that the editorial situation has become more clear I can finally post some of the photographs from my shoot last November of the "Hilltop House" in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand for Terry Hunziker and Cheshire Architects. cheshire-mtnlanding1

Sitting on 1000 acres in the heart of the Bay of Islands Mountain Landing is a truly stunning setting and one of the most remarkable places I've ever been. The owner has spent over a decade painstakingly "developing" the property - planting over 2 million trees and plants from seed (there's an impressive full-time plant nursery on site), building paths and footbridges, and thoughtfully designating potential homesites. It's not uncommon to come across perfectly manicured scenes like this while wandering the property:

Cheshire Architects did a wonderful job of creating a thoroughly beautiful modern home using a traditional New Zealand countryside vernacular - from a distance the house looks like it could be a barn or farmland cottage. And Terry Hunziker's interiors bring a warm comfortable elegance to the relatively large living spaces.

Tom Kundig's Studio House

leitz-kundigstudio4 I recently had the opportunity to photograph Tom Kundig's iconic "Studio House." Not much else to say really - a stunning piece of residential architecture.

Kendall Wilkinson featured in LUXE Feb 2013

I'm a bit late to the party with this but Kendall Wilkinson has a nice little featurette in the current issue of Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine that features my photographs (Winter 2013 National and Northwest editions). wilkinson_kitchen2

The subject is an open airy kitchen from a large remodel project in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco.

Stay tuned for another Luxe blog post as I've got a big project being featured in the next issue....
